Building a sustainable society and inclusive economy

The Royal Academy of Engineering wanted a film to bring alive its mission to harness the power of engineering to build a sustainable society and an inclusive economy that works for everyone. It wanted the film to engage emotionally with the viewer and provide an understanding of the breath and impact of its work.

Happen structured the film around the Academy’s three areas of activity: talent, skills and diversity; innovation and global partners; and policy and engagement. We used voiceover and relaxed interviews, filmed with two cameras for greater flexibility in the edit, livelier pictures and a tighter end product.

Working with the Academy team, we cast strong case studies which tell a story, with articulate, engaging interviewees and strong pictures. We would cut these with material from the Academy’s video archive and stock footage. We used chapter headings to provide a clear structure for the viewer.
